Brand Knowledge Graph: Getting AI to "Know" Your Brand
Chapter 3: AI Search Optimization · Question 42
When you ask ChatGPT “What does Huawei do”, it can give a detailed answer; but if you ask "What does XX Tech do" (an SME), it may know nothing at all. The difference is: Huawei already has rich nodes in AI's "knowledge graph," while your brand may not exist there yet.
What is a brand knowledge graph from the AI perspective?
Simply put, it is the AI model's "cognitive structure" of your brand:
- Entity recognition: Does AI know that your brand name is an "organization/product" rather than an ordinary word
- Attribute association: Does AI know what you do, whom you serve, and what your characteristics are
- Relationship network: Does AI know which industries, technologies, and scenarios you are related to
How to help AI build awareness of your brand?
Level 1: Basic presence
- Baidu BaikeEntry (the most basic Chinese entity identifier)
- A clearly structured description on the "About Us" page of your corporate website
- Accurate and complete information on Tianyancha/Qichacha
Level 2: Attribute reinforcement
- Repeatedly describe your brand in a consistent way across various types of content:
- “XX is an XX company focused on the XX field”
- “XX products mainly serve XX scenarios”
- Keep descriptions consistent—if the official website says "AI marketing platform,"Zhihuand also says "AI marketing platform," and the encyclopedia also says "AI marketing platform," AI will remember this label.
Level 3: Relationship weaving
- Appear in industry rankings and comparative reviews
- Be mentioned in customer cases
- Be linked in partners' content
- Be discussed in technical communities
Test your brand knowledge graph coverage
Use the following prompts to test how major AI models perceive your brand:
- “What does XX company do?”
- “How does XX product compare with XX product?”
- “What tools are recommended for XX business?”
If AI can answer the first two questions, basic awareness has been established. If it recommends you in the third question, scenario association has been formed.
Practical recommendations
- Start with an "AI brand awareness audit": ask the three questions above in ChatGPT, Doubao, and Kimi respectively, and record the answers.
- Ensure your Baidu Baike entry is accurate and recently updated—this is the entity source Chinese AI reads most easily.
- Unify your brand description across the web (one-sentence intro); don't say one thing on your official site and another on Zhihu.
